Easy Recipes for Your Holiday Party

As your guests arrive to your dinner party, keep them busy with light appetizers and drinks while the main entree is being prepared. Here are some of our staff’s favorite holiday mini treats that are both easy to make and quite delicious.

Dairy-Free 3 Ingredient Hot Chocolate

Make 2 cups of hot chocolate mix — approx. 16 servings

  • 1 1/4 cups cane or coconut sugar
  • 3/4 cup good quality cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt

Method:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a food processor (or high-speed blender) for 1–2 minutes.
  2. Scoop into storage container & cover with lid.

To Serve:

  1. Add 2 heaping Tablespoons to 1 cup hot, non-dairy milk of choice (almond, soy, coconut)
  2. Stir to dissolve. Top with marshmallows, if desired.

Gluten-Free Russian Tea Cakes

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups Bisquick™ Gluten-Free mix
  • 3/4 cups finely chopped nuts
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar

 Method:

  1. Heat oven to 400 degrees (fahrenheit).
  2. In large bowl, mix: Butter, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, vanilla, and egg. Stir in Bisquick™ mix & nuts until dough holds together.
  3. Shape dough into 1-inch ball.
  4. On ungreased cookie sheets, place balls 1 inch apart.
  5. Bake 9-11 minutes or until set (but not brown!).
  6. Immediately remove from cookie sheets & place on cooling racks. Let cool for 1-2 minutes then roll warm cookies in 2/3 cup powdered sugar; place on cooling racks to cool completely.
  7. When completely cool, roll in powdered sugar again.
  8. Store in sealed container.

 Savory Crisps with Brie, Fig Jam & Marcona Almonds

  •  1 box savory thin crackers or crisps
  • 1  6″ (or about) Brie cheese wheel
  • 1/4 cup fig jam
  • 1/4 cup loosely chopped Marcona almonds (pistachios or pecans would be delicious, too!)

Method:

  1. Cut a thin slice of Brie (to size of cracker) — place on cracker.
  2. Top with a light dollop of fig jam.
  3. Sprinkle nuts over jam.
  4. Arrange on party tray & serve.
